Monday, July 17, 2023 – Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) is a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan’s largest automobile manufacturer. TMMIN was established in 1971 and has since played a significant role in Indonesia’s automotive industry. It operates as a part of Toyota’s global production network and contributes to Toyota’s efforts in manufacturing and distributing vehicles worldwide.

TMMIN’s main manufacturing facility is located in Karawang, West Java, Indonesia. The company produces various Toyota vehicles, including popular models like the Toyota Avanza, Toyota Innova, Toyota Fortuner, and others, catering to both domestic and export markets.

The establishment of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia has had a positive impact on the Indonesian economy by generating employment opportunities and contributing to technological advancements in the automotive sector. Additionally, it has facilitated the growth of a strong local supplier network, thus boosting the development of the automotive ecosystem in the country.

The visit was the umpteenth time after previously working together in holding a seminar event in commemoration of the 47th anniversary of Universitas Sebelas Maret.

PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN), Faculty of Engineering (FT) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a national seminar ‘100 Years of Indonesian Automotive Industry’. This activity took place in the Ki Hadjar Dewantara Building Ballroom, Tuesday (7/3/2023).

This guest lecture carries the theme ‘Accelerating the Battery Industry & Ecosystem Towards Accelerating the Popularization of Electrification in Indonesia’ which presents:

– Supeni Inten Cahyani, M.M., Special Staff of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources,

– Prof. Agus Purwanto, Chairman of the Centre for Excellence in Science and Technology (PUI) Lithium Battery, UNS,

– Adhietya Saputra from Indonesia Battery Corporate;

– Khoirunurrofik, Ph.D., University of Indonesia

– Sujun Kim, Managing Director of Deloitte

This national seminar is a forum for the academic community, students and the general public in realising the importance of developing the battery industry and ecosystem in an effort to accelerate the xEV population to realise Indonesia Net-Zero Emission (NZE). Not only seminars and public lectures, the participants who attended could also test drive an electrified car made by the nation’s children, namely the Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix.

Starting from talking about PUI Lithium Battery UNS then continued to tour and see what was in PUI Lithium Battery UNS. The visit, which was led directly by the Secretary of PUI Baterai Lithium UNS, Prof. Ir. Muhammad Nizam, S.T., M.T., Ph.D, explained about the facilities in PUI Baterai Lithium UNS, research that has been carried out, collaborations that have been built with outside parties, innovations contained in PUI Baterai and is one of the visits of many companies in Indonesia who have visited PUI Baterai Lithium UNS.
